More Information
For years, Mustang has beckoned trekkers to penetrate its dramatic, tawny and mysterious landscape. Set against the towering peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, the kingdom of Lo Manthang is a vassal state within Nepal where ancient Tibetan culture remains intact. Inhabitants live inside fortress-like villages known as dzongs, built to shield the citizenry from marauding Mongol horsemen. Mandala Adventures has been trekking into Mustang since 2002, the area was opened on a carefully restricted basis that still remains in effect.
