More Information
The people of Laya call their land Beyul, the hidden paradise—travel with us into the high-altitude wonderland of this village nestled at the foot of Mount Masagang and you will see why: Blue sheep and musk deer graze on alpine slopes covered in wildflowers, snow leopards hunt in the deep canyons and villagers tend to their yaks.
From our arrival in Punakha, we climb a winding path through lush forests and tranquil meadows to the village of Gasa, and then across two suspension bridges and finally into the town of Laya. After a day of rest and exploration in this pastoral enclave, we head back to Gasa for a relaxing visit to the Gasa Tsachu Hot Springs. Upon our return to Punakha we will drive to the capital Thimphu, an exotic city that combines traditional and contemporary lifestyles.
