Mandala Adventures honors both nature and culture in our environmental commitment. This dedication extends not only to the lands through which we travel, but to the people with whom we mingle. For instance, Mandala Adventures has always advocated small group travel that treads lightly on the land and respects indigenous cultures.
On our Himalayan treks, we use only kerosene in cook stoves and heaters, saving the precious wood resources of Nepal. We purchase crop foods as we go, helping the local culture support itself in sustaining its agricultural base. Our guides discourage any debasement of the culture, and are dedicated to environmental practices that conserve our host lands and people.
Foremost, Mandala Adventures works together—both financially and with in-kind contributions—with the following organizations:
- One H.E.A.R.T. Foundation, committed to midwife training in Tibet where 1:5 women die in childbirth
- American Himalayan Foundation
These non-profit organizations are committed to improving the quality of life for people throughout Asia. Together, they represent Mandala Adventures's "community" and commitment.
